Tragic River Wey Incident: Man Found Dead After Diving In

Just before 6pm on Tuesday, 28 May, emergency crews raced to the River Wey near the Rowbarge pub after urgent reports that a man had dived in but failed to resurface.

Body Recovered, Identity Known

Tragically, the man’s body was recovered from the river. While formal ID has not been completed, authorities have confirmed his identity and informed his next of kin.

Massive Emergency Response at the Scene

Police, Surrey Fire and Rescue, South East Coast Ambulance Service, a dive team, and search and rescue units were all deployed. Officials urge the public to stay clear to allow the emergency teams to work uninterrupted.

Investigation Underway

The death is being treated as unexplained, but police say there is no suspicion of foul play or involvement of others. A full file will be passed to the coroner for further investigation.
