Man Arrested After Fatal Birmingham Shooting Leaves One Dead, Another Critical
Deadly Gunfire Rocks Edgbaston
A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following a shocking late-night shooting in Birmingham.
West Midlands Police rushed to Rotton Park Road, Edgbaston, just before 11pm on Friday after reports of gunfire.
Officers found two men at separate locations:
- A man in his 20s dead in a car, confirmed dead at the scene.
- Another man in his 30s seriously wounded at a nearby bus stop, taken to hospital in critical condition.
Arrest Made Within 90 Minutes
Gun detectives acted fast. Around 90 minutes after the shooting, a man in his 30s was arrested just before 12.30am.
He is now in police custody, held on suspicion of murder as the investigation heats up.
Police Launch Full-Scale Hunt
The area around Rotton Park Road is sealed off as forensic teams comb the scene.
Officers are knocking on doors and scouring CCTV footage, desperate for any clue that could crack the case.
“This is a shocking incident of violence,” said a West Midlands Police spokesperson. “We are working around the clock to establish the circumstances and ensure those responsible are brought to justice.”
Community in Shock – Police Urge Witnesses to Speak Up
Locals in Edgbaston expressed fear and disbelief.
“This area is usually quiet. To hear about such violence on our doorstep is terrifying,” said one resident.
