Heatwave Ends in a Soaking: Thunderstorms and Torrential Downpours Hit Friday

Brace yourselves! After weeks of scorching heat, Britain is set for a dramatic weather U-turn. Thunderstorms and heavy downpours will smash the heatwave this Friday, the Met Office warns.

Yellow Weather Warning Issued

A yellow weather warning kicks in from 2pm, as fears grow that some areas could get hammered with up to 30mm of rain in just one hour. That’s a flash flood risk hard to ignore.

Heavy Showers to Soak England and Wales

The Met Office said: “Heavy showers, which will become thundery in places, are expected to develop quite widely across parts of England and Wales later Friday morning and through the afternoon.”

With the threat of bursts dumping 20-30mm of rain in an hour, Brits should prepare for a soggy end to the summer sunshine.
