Border Force Snags £172K in Hidden Cash at Folkestone
On Wednesday 20 April 2022, Border Force officers stopped a vehicle at Folkestone. Inside were three people ready to cross the border. All denied carrying cash.
£100K Sewn Into Handbags, £36K on Each Passenger
A thorough search revealed two handbags stuffed with around £100,000 sewn into the linings. Officers also searched the two women passengers, uncovering another £36,000 on each.
Three Arrested as Kent Police Step In
Kent Police took over the case. The two women, aged 27 and 47, were held on suspicion of concealing criminal property. The man, 28, faced money laundering charges.
All three were later released from custody while investigations continue.
