Tragedy at Lakeside Shopping Centre: Man Dies After Brutal Attack
Chaos erupted at Lakeside shopping centre just before 4.30pm on Thursday 28 April, when police were called to a serious assault. A man was found injured and, despite emergency services rushing to the scene, he was tragically pronounced dead.
Two Arrested Over Fatal Assault
Detectives from 1 Police’s Major Investigation Team swiftly moved, arresting a 19-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman on suspicion of murder. Both remain in police custody for questioning.
A third suspect, a 23-year-old man arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder, has since been released without charge.
Detective Assures Public: Lakeside Remains Safe
“Our investigation into this murder is progressing well and my team have worked hard through the day and night,” said Detective Chief Inspector Ashley Howard.
“We still believe, based on the information known to the investigation, there is no threat to the wider community and that Lakeside is a safe place.”
