Murder Probe Launched After Boy Dies in Chelmsford Assault
A murder investigation is underway after a boy was fatally attacked on a green space off Waterson Vale, Chelmsford, at around 11:30pm last night.
Tragic Attack on Young Boy
Emergency services rushed the seriously injured boy to hospital, where he sadly died. His family has been informed and is receiving support.
Suspect Arrested Within Hours
Police wasted no time, arresting an 18-year-old man on suspicion of murder less than two hours after the attack was reported. He remains in custody as the investigation continues.
Specialist Teams Lead Investigation
Detectives from the Serious Crime Directorate, alongside forensic officers, are still combing the scene. A cordon remains in place while they gather crucial evidence. Detective Superintendent Rob Kirby, Head of Major Crime, said:
“This is a shocking incident leading to the death of a young boy. We understand many will be alarmed by this news. We are confident this was a singular and targeted attack.”
