Emergency Rush as Person Found in Eastbourne Waters
This afternoon, a major rescue unfolded on Eastbourne’s Royal Parade beach. Emergency services were scrambled after reports of a person struggling in the water.
Swift Lifeboat and Helicopter Rescue
The Eastbourne Inshore Lifeboat crew launched immediately, joined by local Coastguard teams, police, South East Coast Ambulance Service, Coastguard Rescue Helicopter 163, and the KSS Air Ambulance.
The RNLI lifeboat and Coastguard helicopter quickly located the casualty. Rescued from the water, the individual was given lifesaving care onboard before being brought ashore.
Critical Condition Airlifted to London Hospital
On the beach, paramedics and coastguards provided urgent treatment. The casualty was then airlifted to a London hospital in a life-threatening condition.
Eastbourne RNLI said: “Our volunteer crew was paged Monday 27 February at 14.00 hrs and tasked to reports of a person in the water off Eastbourne Seafront. Once on scene, the casualty was recovered onto the lifeboat where lifesaving care began. They were then taken ashore to awaiting emergency services.”
