Mum's Shock as Stranger Grabs Toddler on Busy Street
Strange Woman Tugged Toddler in Broad Daylight
The alarming incident took place at 5.55pm on Wednesday, 19 April, on Arnold Lane near the junction with Friday Lane. A young mum was pushing one child in a pram and carrying her two-year-old when an unknown woman suddenly approached her, muttering under her breath.
Without warning, the stranger reached out and grabbed the toddler from his mother’s arms. The mum challenged the woman, who then bolted off towards the mini roundabout and Main Street.
Suspect Described as Small, Middle-Aged Woman in Pink Coat
Police have released a description of the suspect: a white female, aged between 50 and 60, small and skinny build. She was wearing a blue face mask, a pink puffer coat with the hood up, and dark blue jeans.
Police Launch Manhunt, Urge Dash Cam Witnesses to Come Forward
Officers quickly arrived on the scene and launched an investigation. They are scouring CCTV footage, conducting forensic tests, and carrying out door-to-door inquiries to track the woman down.
Neighbourhood Inspector Mark Stanley said:
“This would have been a frightening experience for the mum, and we are treating this report extremely seriously. We have a team of officers working to locate the suspect.”
He assured the public it appears to be an isolated incident but promised increased patrols around the Gedling area for reassurance while investigations continue.
Inspector Stanley added:
“It is imperative that we speak to the person responsible and are calling on the public’s help. Anyone who was in the area at the time, especially motorists with dash cam footage, should get in touch.”
