Tragedy Outside Bay Horse Pub: Man Killed, Another Critical After Van Attack

Disaster struck just after 10pm on Saturday, April 1, outside the Bay Horse pub. Police were called following reports that two men had been hit by a van after an alleged disturbance inside the venue.

One Dead, One Fighting for Life

Emergency crews rushed to the scene. Tragically, one of the men, 55 years old, was pronounced dead on arrival. The other, also 55, was rushed to hospital with serious injuries and remains in critical condition. Specialist officers are supporting the families during this devastating time.

Three Arrested as Murder Inquiry Intensifies

The Major Investigation Team has launched a full probe. Two men aged 32 and 37, plus a 27-year-old woman, were arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in custody.

A vehicle was recovered from Broadway in Blyth, where extra police have been deployed as inquiries continue.

Senior Detective Speaks Out

Detective Superintendent Jane Fairlamb said: “This is a tragic incident in which a man has lost his life and another has been hospitalised with serious injuries.

“Our thoughts are with their families at this difficult time and we’d ask their privacy is respected.

“The investigation is ongoing. Additional officers are deployed across Cramlington and Blyth today, gathering evidence and speaking with witnesses. If anyone has information, please come forward.

“There is no wider risk to the public. We urge everyone to avoid speculation or commentary on social media while inquiries continue.”
