Police Hunt Silver Hatchback After Fatal Crash on A4 Bath Road
Thames Valley Police are urgently searching for a silver or grey hatchback linked to a tragic fatal collision on the A4 Bath Road, Calcot.
Stephen Allen, 64, Fatally Struck Near Lidl Early Wednesday
Just before 6:30am on Wednesday, 26 November 2025, Stephen Allen, 64, was hit by at least one vehicle while crossing near the Lidl superstore. The incident has shocked the local community and left a family devastated.
Two Men in Custody, Investigation Ongoing
- A 27-year-old Reading man was arrested on 2 December for causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop. He is now on conditional police bail.
- Another Reading man, 41, was arrested on the day of the crash on suspicion of causing death by careless driving. He remains under active investigation.
Police Plea: Witness in Silver Hatchback Urgently Needed
“We’re still investigating this tragic incident that took Stephen’s life. His family are being supported by trained liaison officers, and my thoughts remain with them,” said Sergeant Matt Cadmore of the Roads Policing Unit. “We’ve released an image of a vehicle of interest — likely a silver or grey hatchback — which we believe saw the crash but wasn’t involved. “Despite CCTV and ANPR checks, this car has not been traced. It was last seen on Burghfield Road, turning left towards Calcot at 6.27am that morning. “If you drive this vehicle or know who does, please contact Thames Valley Police urgently.”
