Tragedy at Scarborough’s Throxenby Mere

A local man in his 50s was found dead in the water at Throxenby Mere, Scarborough, just before 5pm on Tuesday, 10 August 2021. Emergency services rushed to the scene but sadly, nothing could be done.

The man’s family have been notified and are receiving specialist support from the police during this difficult time.

Road Closure and Investigation

Low Road, which circles the mere between Lady Edith’s Drive and Red Scar Lane junction, was closed while police carried out their enquiries. The road reopened at 9.20pm.

North Yorkshire Police have asked anyone with information to come forward. Call 101, select option 1, and mention reference NYP-10082021-0306.
