75-Year-Old Assault Victim Hospitalised After Cowes Attack
Fountains Yard in Cowes was sealed off by police on Wednesday evening following an assault on a 75-year-old man. Officers taped off the area as they launched an investigation after the victim was taken to St Mary’s Hospital with a head injury.
Fountains Yard Closed, Bus and Ferry Access Disrupted
The police cordon remained in place until the early hours of Thursday morning, with inquiries ongoing. Southern Vectis buses and vehicles accessing the Red Jet terminal faced delays due to the road closure.
Police warned the public on Twitter:
- ROAD CLOSURE: Road leading to Fountain Quay (Red Funnel Red Jet terminal) closed.
- Pedestrians can still access the area.
- Red Jet ferry services continue unaffected, but allow extra travel time.
- “Please respect the police cordon at all times.”
Man’s Condition Not Life-Threatening
Police confirmed officers were called to St Mary’s Hospital at 1:37am after the injured man was admitted. His injuries are not believed to be serious.
A Hampshire and Isle of Wight Police spokesman said the investigation is ongoing. More updates to follow.
