Six Arrested in £1 Million Lancashire Crime Spree Bust

Police have swooped on a criminal gang behind a £1 million theft spree across northern England. Six suspects were arrested today (Wednesday, May 8) in a major crackdown led by Lancashire Constabulary.

Crime Wave Hits North Lancashire and Beyond

The gang is blamed for a string of high-value crimes over the past year. Offences include commercial plant theft, ATM heists, cash-in-transit robberies, and home burglaries. Police targeted five men from Bishop Auckland, Durham, and a woman from Morecambe, all held on suspicion of conspiracy to commit theft.

Police Patrols and Premises Raided Across Regions

With help from Durham and Cumbria forces, Lancashire Police carried out coordinated raids and property searches in Durham and Morecambe to crack the case wide open.

“The activities of organised gangs cause fear in our neighbourhoods and hurt businesses,” said Detective Chief Inspector Rebecca Smith, Lancashire Constabulary. “We won’t tolerate it in Lancashire and today’s arrests show our commitment to smashing this crime.”

“We thank our colleagues in Durham and Cumbria for their support and urge the public to come forward with any information.”
