Tragedy Strikes as Local Hero Intervenes in Knife Attack

Wayne Broadhurst, 49, a calm and beloved council binman from Uxbridge, was brutally stabbed outside his home while protecting a 14-year-old boy and his father from a violent knife attack. The incident happened around 5pm on Monday as Wayne was walking his dog near Midhurst Gardens, Hillingdon.

Neighbours say Wayne courageously stepped in to stop the attacker but was mercilessly stabbed. Witness Paul O’Brien described the weapon as a terrifying 30cm-long blade.

Suspect Held After Dramatic Police Arrest

The Metropolitan Police swiftly arrested a 22-year-old Afghan man on suspicion of murder and attempted murder. Officers tasered the suspect, who appeared calm during arrest, before taking him into custody. The Home Office confirmed the man entered the UK illegally in 2020 and isn’t in any asylum housing, despite circulating rumours.

Wayne’s partner shared a heart-wrenching message online: “I’ll miss you for the rest of my life. I wish you were here.” Flowers, candles, and tributes continue to pile up outside the scene, and a minute’s silence was held by neighbors mourning their fallen hero.
