In a heartbreaking incident, a six-year-old girl has been identified as the victim of a fatal house fire in Leicester. Chamiah Brindley, known affectionately as Miah, lost her life in the blaze that occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, September 10, on Bedale Drive.
Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service responded to the emergency, alerting the police to the scene. Despite their efforts, young Chamiah was found deceased inside the home.
In moving tributes, Chamiah’s parents described their daughter as a vibrant and loving child. Her mother remembered her as “the most happy, smiley little girl anyone could ever meet,” highlighting Miah’s curious nature and her love for food and family.

“She was the ray of sunshine that shone when your day was cloudy,” her mother said, accentuating Chamiah’s close bond with her ten siblings, especially her older brother Dre.
Chamiah’s father spoke of her caring nature and infectious happiness. “It is still hard for me to come to terms with what has happened,” he said, expressing the profound loss felt by the family.
The community has been left shocked by the tragedy, with Chamiah remembered as an outgoing child who loved school and playing with her friends and siblings.
Following a thorough investigation by both the fire service and police, it was concluded that the fire started accidentally. A 14-year-old girl who was initially arrested in connection with the incident has been released with no further action to be taken.
