Tragedy on the A3: Nursery Nurse Laura Westbrook Dies in Horror Crash
Friends are mourning the heartbreaking death of Laura Westbrook, a beloved former nursery nurse, who died in a crash on the A3 near Petersfield late Thursday night.
Car Flips on A3 After Leaving Carriageway
Just after 11pm, Laura was driving her Vauxhall Corsa southbound home from work when her car flipped onto its roof on the central grass bank after leaving the carriageway. Emergency services rushed to the scene but, despite their best efforts, Laura was pronounced dead at the scene.
Man Arrested on Suspicion of Drugged Driving
A second driver, a 26-year-old man from Portsmouth in a black Ford Focus, was arrested at the crash site. He faces suspicion of causing death by careless driving and driving under the influence of a controlled drug. Police say he is cooperating with enquiries.
Notably, investigators have found no evidence the two vehicles collided.
Heartbroken Tributes Pour In
Ricky French said: “It’s so horrible to think, we are the same age! I still can’t believe it! I haven’t seen you in ages! But it doesn’t change how I spent half my youth seeing you at school! RIP Laura, thoughts to your family and friends.”
Lindy Brown, a close friend and relative, was devastated by the news. She said: “I just didn’t know what to say, I was in total shock. You don’t expect something like that to happen. She was lovable, bubbly, always there to help everyone else. She would give you her last penny and was a woman with a golden heart.”
