Murder Probe Launched After Woman’s Body Found Near Guildford
A murder investigation is underway after a woman’s body was found near Guildford yesterday afternoon.
Body Discovered by A3 Slip Road
Police were called at around 3pm on 23 August to the northbound A3 slip road, close to the A320 Woking Road junction. A member of the public reported spotting the body in undergrowth beside the road.
Surrey and Sussex’s Major Crime Team has taken over the case. They are working to identify the woman, believed to be in her forties, and notify her next of kin.
Two Men Arrested, Investigation Ongoing
Two men were arrested this evening in connection with the murder probe and remain in custody as enquiries continue.
Detective Chief Inspector Emma Vickers said, “We are treating this as a murder. We believe the crime took place elsewhere and the victim’s body was left here. We’re working closely with forensic experts to find out how long the body has been at the scene.”
DCI Vickers added, “Our investigation is still early, but residents can be reassured a dedicated team is working around the clock. We will share more information as soon as possible.”
Road Closures and Public Appeal
The slip road remains closed with a cordon expected for at least another day. Motorists are urged to avoid the area and the public asked to respect police restrictions.
