Flying Squad Foils Essex Cash Van Heist

Two men were caught red-handed after a daring cash in transit robbery in Essex. At 12.30pm on Monday, 25 November, the suspects in a black Seat Ibiza pulled up beside a delivery van at the Bellhouse pub car park on Rayleigh Road, Eastwood.

Fast Police Response Nabs Suspects

The passenger jumped out and forced the custodian to hand over a cashbox. But Flying Squad detectives were on high alert and swooped within seconds, arresting both the passenger and the driver on the spot.

The cashbox was recovered, and the two men – aged 38 and 25 – were taken into custody.

Linked to Other Robberies in Romford

Police are now probing their involvement in two other cash in transit robberies in Romford from August. Officers are tight-lipped about the stolen sums.

Detective Inspector Jason Barber praised the quick work: “The success of this Flying Squad operation today is testament to the brave officers of this unit, who have worked tirelessly to arrest these two individuals.

“The safe movement of cash and valuables, especially in the run-up to Christmas, is crucial to the security of the country. The guards working for the many companies that carry out this function deserve to do their job without being subjected to violence or attack.

“I appeal to the public to report any suspicious activity they may see around these deliveries by calling police on 101 or passing information anonymously to Crimestoppers.”
