Tragic Crash Claims Two Young Lives in Royton

Two young men have died after a horror collision involving an off-road motorbike and a car in Royton.

Fatal Smash Shakes Royton Streets

Harry Atkinson, 20, and Lewis Meeson, 21, were riding a yellow Suzuki off-road bike near the junction of High Barn Street and Cardigan Street shortly before 11am. They crashed head-on with a grey Ford Kuga, leaving both riders with critical injuries. Despite efforts to save them, Harry and Lewis tragically died at the scene.

The driver of the Ford remained at the scene and is cooperating fully with police inquiries.

Families Mourn, Police Investigate

Greater Manchester Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit launched a full probe into the crash. No arrests have been made. Officers continue to appeal for any witnesses or dash-cam footage to come forward.

Specialist officers are supporting the devastated families. Both Harry and Lewis were local lads, well known and loved in their community.

Heartbreaking Tributes Pour In

“Words can’t describe how it feels to lose our youngest child, Harry – our son – in such a tragic way. Our hearts are broken,” said Harry’s family. “He was a loving, kind, and thoughtful young man, full of life, happy in his job as a plumber with everything ahead of him.”

“We want to thank all the first responders who tried their best to save Harry and Lewis, and everyone who has shown such kindness and support during this horrific time.”

The family of Lewis added: “We are completely devastated by the loss of our beloved Lewis. The outpouring of love and support from friends, family, and the community has brought us some comfort during this awful time.”
