Tragic Crash in Royton Claims Lives of Two Young Riders
Harry Atkinson, 20, and Lewis Meeson, 21, lost their lives in a horrific crash on a yellow Suzuki off-road bike. The fatal collision happened just before 11am on High Barn Street, near Cardigan Street in Royton.
Collision with Ford Kuga Under Investigation
The bike collided with a grey Ford Kuga. Both men suffered critical injuries and later died. Greater Manchester Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit is probing the incident. The Ford driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating with officers.
No arrests have been made so far. Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage to aid their investigation.
Families Pay Heartbreaking Tributes
Specialist officers are supporting the devastated families of Harry and Lewis, both local to Royton. Harry’s family described him as a “loving, kind and thoughtful young man” and said:
“Words can’t describe how it feels to lose our youngest child, Harry – our son – in such a tragic way. Our hearts are broken.”
“Harry was 20, full of life and happy in his job as a plumber, with his whole future ahead of him.”
“We thank the first responders who did everything they could, the compassionate police, and everyone who has sent kind messages. Please give us privacy as we grieve.”
Lewis’s family echoed the sorrow, saying:
“We have been completely devastated by the loss of our beloved Lewis. The outpouring of love and support has shown us how cherished he was by all who knew him.”
“We are deeply grateful for the hundreds of kind messages which have brought comfort during this horrific time.”
