Uninsured Car Fallout: Four Nabbed in Class A Drugs Bust
Police in Sutton-in-Ashfield made a major breakthrough after spotting an uninsured car on Thursday afternoon. What started as a routine stop turned into a significant drugs crackdown, with four people arrested on suspicion of dealing class A drugs.
Suspicious Vehicle Leads To Dramatic Stop
Officers tailed the vehicle at a safe distance before pulling it over outside a Mansfield Road address. They noticed the unmistakable smell of cannabis wafting from inside. A search of the car and its two male occupants uncovered a burner phone and a stash of cash – classic signs of drug dealing.
Raids Unearth Scales, Deal Bags & More Suspects
The two men, aged 34 and 28, were promptly arrested. But the story didn’t end there. A follow-up search of the Mansfield Road property revealed digital scales, deal bags, and fresh intel pointing to wider drug offences. Police also arrested a 35-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man found inside, both suspected of involvement in class A supply.
Police Crack Down On Ashfield’s Drug Trade
“Uninsured vehicles tend to arouse officers’ suspicions as they often lead to the discovery of additional offences,” said Inspector Mark Dickson, Mansfield’s district commander. “Their initial concerns were well founded, leading to four arrests for very serious offences.”
“Drugs are a blight on our communities, fuelling thefts, burglaries, and extreme violence. We will not tolerate drug dealing in Ashfield and are working tirelessly to clamp down on offenders. More warrants, vehicle stops, and searches are in motion to keep our streets safe.”
All four suspects have been released under investigation as police continue their enquiries.
