A man has been arrested following the death of a 58-year-old woman at a residential property in Towpath Way, Croydon, early this morning.
The Metropolitan Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at 4:55am on Saturday, April 12, after the woman was reported to be unresponsive. Despite the efforts of emergency responders, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 57-year-old man, believed to be known to the woman, was arrested in connection with her death and is currently in police custody.

Investigation Underway
In a statement, a spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said:
“An investigation has been launched following the death of a 58-year-old woman at a residential property in Croydon. Despite the best efforts of emergency services, she was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
“A 57-year-old man has been arrested in connection with her death and remains in police custody. It is believed the two parties are known to each other. Her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers. The investigation continues.”
The home has been cordoned off as detectives carry out forensic examinations, and officers continue to make door-to-door enquiries in the Thornton Heath area.

Local residents expressed shock over the incident, describing the area as generally quiet and close-knit.
“You don’t expect to wake up to news like this,” one neighbour who spoke to UKMIP. “It’s heartbreaking.”
