Massive blaze hits Battersea block of flats! Firefighters raced to a 13th floor flat on Winstanley Road after smoke billowed from the building on Monday afternoon.

58 firefighters battle fierce flames

Eight fire engines and 58 firefighters and officers scrambled to tackle the fire. The Brigade’s 999 control team took a staggering 25 emergency calls as smoke poured from one of the upper-floor flats.

Police step in to manage chaos

The Metropolitan Police Service swooped in to enforce road closures, helping keep the scene clear. The Fire Service was alerted just after 1pm and brought the blaze under control by 2pm.

Multiple stations join the fire fight

Fire crews from Battersea, Clapham, Wandsworth, Chelsea, Fulham, Tooting, Lambeth, and Brixton all joined the intense operation.

Officials have yet to determine what sparked the fire, with investigations ongoing.
