Green Party Slams Tax ‘Silence’—Targets Multimillionaires in Bold New Manifesto
The Green Party has thrown down the gauntlet, promising to break the “conspiracy of silence” on tax fairness. In their eye-catching “Broken Britain” election manifesto, they pledge to hike taxes on the super-rich—multimillionaires and billionaires—to fund vital public services.
Fairer Taxes to Fund Health, Housing and Green Jobs
Green Party co-leader Adrian Ramsay insists the wealthy must pay up. “We need to ask those with the broadest shoulders to pay more,” Ramsay declared, taking a swipe at Labour and Conservatives for dodging tough talks on tax and eyeing cuts to public services instead.
The cash from higher taxes will bankroll improvements in health, housing, transport, and a greener economy. Their flagship Green Economic Transition aims to upgrade homes across the UK, making them warmer and slashing bills.
£50 Billion Pledged Annually to Health and Social Care by 2030
Alongside the tax and housing policies, the Greens promise to pump £50 billion every year into health and social care by 2030. Protecting the climate and restoring natural environments also feature heavily in their manifesto launch in Brighton and Hove this morning.
Green Candidates Call for Real Change
Sian Berry, aiming to take over Caroline Lucas’s Brighton Pavilion seat, said, “The time for half measures and empty promises is over.” Ramsay added, “There is a conspiracy of silence between the main Westminster parties at this election.”
The Greens want to shake up the UK’s approach to wealth, public funding, and the environment—making clear they’re ready to take on the elite and back a fairer, greener future.
