Missing Teen’s Instagram Hacked Amid Growing Tenerife Search

Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire – Family and friends of missing 19-year-old Jay Slater fear his Instagram has been hacked. Since Jay vanished on Monday, his account has been accessed multiple times, sparking serious concerns about fake updates.

Intense Search Underway in Tenerife

Jay was last spotted on Monday morning trying to walk back to his accommodation in Tenerife after attending a local music festival the night before. The Spanish police have ramped up their search, now entering its sixth day. The Civil Guard, mountain rescue teams, helicopters, rescue dogs, and drones are tirelessly scouring the area.

Warning Issued Over Instagram Activity

An official Facebook page updating the search warned followers about suspicious activity on Jay’s Instagram. A family friend clarified: “Jay’s mum asked I post this. For everyone asking who logged into his Instagram account, it’s not him or her; somebody else has logged into it.” It appears hackers or bots have been targeting his profile since his disappearance.

Family Targeted by Vile Social Media Abuse

As the search drags on, Jay’s mother, Debbie Duncan, and loved ones are enduring hateful messages online. Debbie revealed she received a nasty Snapchat saying, “Kiss goodbye to your boy, you’re never going to see him again, he owes me a lot of money.” Luckily, her eldest son Zac grabbed a screenshot before it vanished, and police have been notified.

‘Social Media Noise’ Hampering Investigation

Debbie added the deluge of social media posts is complicating the case. She said police told her: “There’s too much noise—that’s affecting the investigation. They have all the plans and locations mapped out but social media misinformation is getting in the way.” Both British and Spanish forces are working closely but stressed that the Spanish police are leading the probe.

Authorities urge anyone with info on Jay Slater’s whereabouts to come forward and assist the ongoing investigation.
