Brutal Attack on Elderly Man in Warrington Ends with Jail Time
Assault Shocks Local Community
Benjamin Jones, from Trafford Avenue, Bewsey and Whitecross, faced Chester Magistrates on Monday, June 13, after admitting to assault causing actual bodily harm. The court sentenced him to one year in prison for the violent attack.
Attack Caught in Sainsbury’s Car Park
The 75-year-old victim was set upon twice on the evening of Friday, June 10. First, he was assaulted while walking down Church Street, Warrington, then again as he crossed the Sainsbury’s car park around 10:35 p.m.
At one point, Jones kicked the man in the head while he was on the floor, leaving him bleeding from serious injuries.
Passersby Rush to Help Victim
Nearby witnesses sprang into action, coming to the elderly man’s aid. He was rushed to hospital for urgent medical treatment.
Judge Slams Senseless Violence
“Jones has never explained the reason for his violent behaviour, but it was inexcusable and shocking regardless. It is incomprehensible to attack an elderly man going about his business and leave him with distressing facial injuries. Thankfully, Jones is now behind bars for his heinous assault on an innocent man.”
