Drunken Thug Locked Up for Nearly Seven Years After Brutal Attack and Burglary

Louis Alan Bibby, a no-fixed-abode menace, has been slammed with a hefty prison sentence of six years and eleven months. Portsmouth Crown Court handed down the sentence on Friday (8 April) for two staggering crimes within 2020.

Brutal Head Wound Assault on Fawcett Road

Back on October 28, 2020, Bibby launched a vicious attack on a man in his 30s at a Fawcett Road property. The victim suffered serious head injuries and needed urgent care at Queen Alexandra Hospital. Police swiftly arrested Bibby on suspicion of Section 18 wounding with intent. He was charged and later admitted the assault.

Burglar Swipes Gadgets and Cards From Exmouth Road Home

Just weeks later, on December 17, Bibby went on another rampage. Between 3am and 3.45am, he broke into a house on Exmouth Road through the front door. He made off with a wallet stuffed with credit and debit cards, which were later used fraudulently. He also pinched a PS4, a mobile phone, a Galaxy Note, and a Nest Hub Max smart device.

Hampshire Constabulary’s Eastern Operation Hawk team sprang into action. Using Ring doorbell footage from a neighbour and CCTV from Kwiki Mark on Albert Road where a stolen card was used, they zeroed in on Bibby. Forensic evidence at the scene sealed his fate.

Justice Served – Police Praise Tough Sentence

Bibby pleaded guilty to burglary and was sentenced to four and a half years for the assault, plus another two years and five months for burglary.

“We are very pleased with this result and that Bibby is being held accountable for his despicable crimes,” said PC 1 Berry, lead investigator. “The distress caused to victims in incidents such as these is immeasurable. I welcome this sentence and hope it reassures our communities that we take these offences very seriously.”

With Bibby behind bars, the streets of Portsmouth breathe a little easier.
