Junaid Yunus Arrested for Firearms Charges
Derbyshire Police swooped on Junaid Yunus from Arkwright Street, Derby, in June after an intelligence-led probe into firearms possession and supply. The operation led to his arrest on serious gun-related offences.
Facing Multiple Serious Charges
Yunus was hit with charges for possessing firearms and ammunition, plus six separate breaches of a Serious Crime Prevention Order. He admitted guilt to all counts at Derby Crown Court on July 29, 2022.

Detective Chief Superintendent Jim Dunkerley, Head of Counter Terrorism Policing North East, said: “We will always act on any intelligence that indicates a potential threat to the safety of our communities. Irrespective of their intentions, those handling firearms or involved in firearms-related activity will not go unnoticed. They will always present a risk to others and can always expect to be prosecuted.”
