Kevin Geoghegan Jailed for Stabbing Murder in Lanark
Kevin Geoghegan was found guilty at Glasgow High Court on Friday, 5 April 2024. He was handed a minimum 18-year prison sentence for the fatal stabbing of Peter Kirkwood.
Fatal Assault Outside Lanark Home
Police were called to a serious assault at Mousebank Road, Lanark, shortly before 2am on Saturday, 16 July 2022. Despite the efforts of emergency services, 24-year-old Peter Kirkwood was pronounced dead at the scene.
Swift Arrest After Search Warrant
Officers arrested Geoghegan at Melvinhall Road on 20 July 2022, following a search warrant. The single reckless attack shocked the local community.

“Peter was stabbed in a reckless attack by a stranger. I hope today’s sentencing brings justice for Peter’s family and friends. Our thoughts remain with them as they cope with this tragic loss,” said Detective Inspector Campbell Jackson.
