Birmingham Burglar Busted After Raiding Retirement Village

Stephen Keating made a daring trip from Birmingham to target homes at The Elms in Torksey on the night of October 4-5. He helped himself to cash and valuables worth £4,500, including jewellery with huge sentimental value to the owners.

Victims Away During Callous Burglaries

The residents of this quiet retirement village, a caravan park for the over-50s, were away when Keating struck. The burglar, from Frances Road, Bournville, Birmingham, later admitted two counts of burglary plus one charge of burglary with intent to steal.

Police Praise Public Tip-Off That Landed the Burglar Behind Bars

“This was a significant sentence which reinforces our message that we will investigate burglaries robustly and bring offenders to justice,” said PC Donnah Thompson, who led the probe.

“We have returned much sentimental property to the victims, which we hope brings some comfort after this upsetting ordeal.”

“A big thank you to the member of the public who reported a suspicious vehicle, helping us to arrest Keating and secure a conviction.”
