High Wycombe Burglar Caught After Crime Spree Across Kent
Burglar Caught Red-Handed
Robert Davanzo, 28, from High Wycombe, has been slapped with an eight-year jail sentence at Canterbury Crown Court. The charge? Conspiracy to burgle. His arrest followed a sharp investigation by Kent Police’s Chief Constable’s Crime Squad.
Five Burglaries in One Day Shock Ashford
On 16 February 2022, Davanzo and an accomplice targeted properties across Ashford with a spree of break-ins. Their loot included a large sum of cash and 10 high-value watches stolen from a Willesborough home. Later, two men posing as water inspectors stole a jacket and jewellery from another house nearby.
A man wearing the stolen jacket was spotted in a neighbour’s garden but fled after being confronted. Further break-ins hit a flat in New Romney (cash and documents stolen) and a flat above a Hythe restaurant, where staff scared off the burglars.
Return to Crime in Folkestone Ends in Arrest
Just days later, on 22 February, Davanzo struck again in Folkestone. He burgled a house, stealing cash and the keys to an Audi, which was then joyridden with false plates. Police snagged the stolen car and an accomplice in a north London traffic stop.
Youth Caught in the Act Too
The 17-year-old who aided Davanzo received a two-year youth rehabilitation order, including a curfew and electronic tag.
Warnings from the Police
Detective Sergeant Jay Robinson said: “We will not tolerate criminals coming into Kent to commit offences. We’re pleased with the quick response that stopped this burglar’s return visit.”
He advised: “Keep high-value jewellery locked away in a safe, install alarms and CCTV, and make sure your valuables are photographed and insured.”
Davanzo’s sentence also covers similar crimes committed in Essex and South Wales, marking the end of a serious crime streak.
