Paedophile Jailed for Trying to Sexually Exploit a Fake 8-Year-Old Girl
Nicholas Jenner, 47, from Meadow Bank Road, Chatham, was locked up at Maidstone Crown Court on 31 October 2020. He pleaded guilty to arranging or facilitating a child sex offence after trying to meet an 8-year-old girl for sex.
Police Sting Nets Sex Offender
Between 20 August and 3 September 2019, Jenner chatted online with a woman and agreed to travel to Cardiff to sexually abuse her young child. But the reality was a police trap — the “woman” and “child” were fake, played by an officer from Tarian, the regional organised crime unit for southern Wales.
Tarian, backed by the Home Office and Welsh Government, targets online child exploitation, fraud, and cybercrime.
Swift Arrest and Harsh Sentence
Jenner was arrested on 3 October 2019 by the Medway Offender Management Unit. At sentencing, he was slapped with a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order and a four-year extended licence starting on release.
PC Emma Walshaw said: “Jenner was already a registered sex offender under strict monitoring. When he tried this horrific new offence, we acted fast to bring him down.”
“He aimed to abuse a young child. Our job is to protect the public from dangerous offenders, and his sentence shows how seriously we take this.”
