Monster Paedophile Joshua Plunkett Jailed for 14 and a Half Years for Abusing Teenage Girls
Lewisham Man Brought to Justice
Joshua Plunkett, 28, from Reginald Road, Lewisham, was slammed with a 14-and-a-half-year prison sentence at Croydon Crown Court on Thursday, 18 November. He must serve a minimum of eight-and-a-half years behind bars. Afterwards, he’ll be on licence and subject to a 15-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order. To make matters worse for Plunkett, he’s now registered as a sex offender for life.
Horrific Abuse of Five Teenage Girls
Plunkett was convicted on a string of chilling charges, including:
- Possession of prohibited images
- Sexual communications with a child
- Controlling and coercive behaviour
- Disclosing private photos
- Actual bodily harm
- Two counts of sexual activity with a child
- Perverting the course of justice
- Causing a child to watch a sexual act
- Breach of a Sexual Risk Order
- Failing to comply with the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000
The court heard how Plunkett targeted five teenage girls aged 13 to 18 over four years, from 2016 to 2020. He befriended them online before subjecting them to twisted physical, sexual, and emotional abuse – including terrifying “strangle holds” and biting so hard he left a full mouthprint. One victim even had her finger broken during “play fighting”.
Terrorising Victims After Arrest
Even after being arrested, Plunkett kept up his reign of terror, trying to intimidate victims to stop them testifying. In one chilling case, while on bail, he broke into a victim’s home, beat her brutally in front of her 12-year-old sister, then stole her phone and bank card. His vile actions wrecked lives, shattered self-esteem, and ruined hopeful careers.
Met Police Praise Victims’ Bravery
Detective Constable Natalie Franklin from the Met’s Modern Slavery and Child Exploitation Team said:
“Plunkett is a cruel monster who preyed on young teenage girls. He made their lives a living nightmare with sexual, physical and emotional violence. Even on remand, he tried to control and intimidate. This was a complex investigation that took hundreds of hours, but thanks to the bravery of the victims, he has been locked up for a considerable time.”
Following a lengthy investigation starting in 2018, and multiple arrests, justice has finally caught up with Joshua Plunkett. Let this stand as a warning: predators like him will face the full force of the law.
