Uninsured Audi Flees Police at 70mph in a 30mph Zone
Ashford Local Policing Team officers spotted McGlaughlin driving an uninsured Audi A4 along Kingsnorth Road shortly before 6pm on March 14, 2021. When police turned on their blue lights to stop him, he sped off, hitting 70mph in a 30mph zone.
McGlaughlin recklessly raced through Beaver Lane, Brookfield Road, and Chart Road, even going the wrong way around a roundabout. The chaos ramped up when he reversed into the police car in Magazine Road, then fled again, barreling through red lights.
Police Chase Ends in Arrest After Man Dumps Car
He took another roundabout on the wrong side before abandoning his car on Heathfield Road. Officers quickly gave chase and caught him.
PC Tania Richardson, Kent Police’s lead investigator, said: “McGlaughlin’s reckless driving could very easily have caused a serious collision and harmed other road users. He showed no consideration for the welfare of the two officers in the patrol car which he rammed as he tried to evade arrest. Their persistence in tracking and arresting him shows our commitment to bringing to justice dangerous drivers and those who threaten our officers’ safety.”
