Drug Dealer Sets Fire and Threatens Woman in Front of Child
Charlie Moon’s Fiery Threat
Charlie Moon, 27, sparked a dangerous blaze near Liptraps Lane on 6 June 2021. He set fire to a rug and shouted, “I’m going to set this place alight with you in it”, threatening a woman he knew. The horrifying scene unfolded in front of the victim’s friends and a young child. Luckily, one friend quickly put out the flames before Moon fled.
Arrest and Drug Bust Days Earlier
Just three days before the arson, Moon was caught in a car stop by Tunbridge Wells Community Policing Team. He was a passenger in a Ford Fiesta linked to drug activity. Police found heroin and crack cocaine in his wallet, along with a customer tick list and a phone loaded with drug distribution messages.
Guilty Pleas and Court Sentence
Moon faced Maidstone Crown Court where he pled guilty to two counts of possessing Class A drugs with intent to supply and arson with intent to endanger life. Additional charges of assault and criminal damage were also filed. On Friday, 20 January 2023, Moon was sentenced to 3 years and 7 months behind bars and handed a five-year restraining order.
Police Warning: Dangerous and Volatile Offender
“Moon is a persistent offender involved in street supply of Class A drugs and has shown extremely volatile and dangerous behaviour, including in front of a young child,” said Detective Sergeant Leanne Carter of West Kent Vulnerability Investigation Team.
“This prison sentence is necessary to protect the public and gives Moon a chance to reflect and hopefully turn his life around while he is still young.”
