Darlington Biker Sentenced for Deadly Crash
James Mitchell was caught riding a bike illegally around Darlington on February 11. He had no insurance or driving licence and was high on cannabis while performing dangerous stunts like wheelies and overtaking vehicles recklessly.
Deadly 60mph Collision
At about 7pm, Mitchell slammed into a victim crossing Freeman’s Place, who was pushing his bike. The impact at around 60mph caused fatal injuries. The victim tragically died at the scene.
Arrest and Charges
Mitchell went to hospital for his own injuries before being arrested. The 29-year-old from Kinghall Street, Darlington, was charged with causing death by dangerous driving after a police interview.
Lengthy Prison Sentence
At Teesside Crown Court on May 10, Mitchell was sentenced to ten-and-a-half years behind bars for the fatal crash.
