Police Sergeant Facing Rape Charges Over 2009 Plymouth Case

Police Sergeant David Stansbury, 42, from Ilminster, Somerset, has been charged with three counts of rape involving a woman aged 16 or over.

Alleged Crimes Occurred While on Duty

The alleged offences took place in Plymouth in 2009, during Stansbury’s time with Devon & Cornwall Police. The case has been under investigation since it was reported to police back in September 2020.

Serving Officer Suspended Amid Investigation

Stansbury currently serves with Hertfordshire Police but was with Devon & Cornwall Police from 2009 to 2011. He is now suspended from duty as the investigation continues.
