Colchester Paedophile David Schadek Found Guilty of Child Sex Offences

David Schadek, 62, has been found guilty of sexually assaulting children over a 13-year period. The vile crimes, committed between 2004 and 2017, came to light after a victim bravely reported an incident in January 2018.

Multiple Victims and Charges

Essex Police’s Child Abuse Investigation Team uncovered additional victims and incidents during their probe. Schadek, from Fenno Close, Colchester, was charged and stood trial at Chelmsford Crown Court. On Tuesday 7 December, he was found guilty of:

  • Four counts of sexual assault
  • One count of sexual assault of a child
  • One count of perverting the course of justice

He was cleared of two counts of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and two counts of sexual assault of a child. Schadek faces sentencing at Chelmsford Crown Court on 21 December.

Police Praise Victims’ Courage

“Today truth prevailed,” said Detective Inspector Fred Tomkins. “I want to praise the courage of the victims who spoke out in defiance of this man, and hope they find comfort in knowing David Schadek will now face the consequences of his criminal acts.”

“Their resilience throughout this long investigation has been incredible, and I thank them for their trust in us. We will continue to root out those who prey on children and expose their heinous crimes.”
