Police Officer Caught in Shocking Abuse of Trust
Rachel Beale, 53, from Oxfordshire, has been slammed for an inappropriate relationship with a man she was meant to supervise. The former Wiltshire Police offender manager faced Bristol Crown Court after admitting the scandalous misconduct.
Forbidden Romance While on the Job
Beale worked in Wiltshire Police’s Management of Sexual or Violent Offenders (MOSOVO) unit. Between February and September 2020, she secretly started an intimate relationship with a male member of the public under her watch. This was a blatant breach of trust.
She was arrested in September 2020, suspended immediately, and investigated by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).
Justice Served: Guilty Plea and Career Over
Last month, Beale pleaded guilty. An internal gross misconduct hearing followed and ruled she would have been sacked if she hadn’t already quit. She is now on the College of Policing barred register, barring her from any police or vetted roles nationwide.
Deputy Chief Constable Slams Behaviour
“Rachel Beale betrayed the trust of the public, and betrayed the trust of her colleagues, when she blatantly abused her position to commit this crime,” said Deputy Chief Constable Paul Mills.
“There is no place in policing for someone who behaves in this way.”
DCC Mills added: “She was suspended immediately and dismissed after her guilty plea. Placing her on the barred list protects the public from any future police roles.”
He urged the public to stay confident in Wiltshire Police, acknowledging this is a rare case. “We are committed to rooting out misconduct and taking swift action.”
If anyone has concerns about police professionalism, they are encouraged to contact the force in confidence.
