Dozens of electric motorbikes have been snapped up and a bank account frozen in a huge Garda swoop targeting organised crime in Dublin. The blitz, part of Operation Meacan, hit addresses in Dublin 10 and 24 on Tuesday, 22 April 2025.
39 Electric Bikes and €99,000 Frozen
- 39 electric motorbikes seized
- 15 helmets and 9 batteries recovered
- Total haul valued at over €130,000
- Bank account frozen with more than €99,000 under money laundering laws
The operation is cracking down on criminals using electric bikes to dodge detection while trafficking drugs, moving firearms, and intimidating communities.
Gardaí Strike at Growing Criminal Trend
“Electric motorbikes are increasingly being used by criminals to evade detection while carrying out illegal activities. Operation Meacan is focused on dismantling this mode of transport for criminal networks and disrupting their operations,” said a Garda spokesperson.
