Three More Jailed Over Bristol Riot Madness
Three men have been slammed with jail time for their roles in the violent Bristol riot outside Bridewell Police Station in March 2021. Gopal Clarke, Henry Olohan, and Arthur Lazarus were sentenced today at Bristol Crown Court.
Clarke’s Shocking Attack on Police
Gopal Clarke, 25, of Kingswood, was caught on camera kicking officers repeatedly and hurling objects at them. He even stole a police baton with the help of a bystander. Shocking footage revealed Clarke using a police shield to crash into officers and smash them on the head hard. The court hit him with an 18-month jail term.
Olohan and Lazarus Also Behind Bars
- Henry Olohan, 24, from Montpelier, was jailed for eight months after pleading guilty to affray and criminal damage.
- Arthur Lazarus, 23, got 20 months for violent disorder. Judge James Patrick said Lazarus joined the protest frontlines, abused police, pushed boundaries, threw liquids, and attacked officers with a shield.
Fierce Justice After Night of Chaos
These latest sentences push the total to 26 rioters locked up with a combined 85 years and one month behind bars. Detective Superintendent James Riccio said:
“The admissions of guilt may well be a result of the compelling evidence investigators have gathered, but I also hope it’s because these three men have come to realise their actions went too far.
“This was a night of shameless and destructive violence and we welcome these latest sentences for the appalling crimes committed.”
Justice moves swiftly in Bristol as the crackdown on riot chaos continues.
