Glossop Teen Jailed for Fueling Terror After His Videos Cited by US Mass Murderer
Right-Wing Rantings Link Teen to Deadly US Attacks
A 19-year-old from Glossop, Daniel John Harris, has been locked up for 11-and-a-half years after his extreme right-wing videos were linked to a racially-motivated US terror attack that claimed 10 lives.
Between February 2021 and March 2022, Harris uploaded five incendiary clips online. In them, he applauded the 2019 New Zealand mosque attacks, slammed peaceful protests, and even called for the deaths of those in the criminal justice system.
Videos Referenced in Horrific Buffalo and Colorado Attacks
Harris’ online rants were directly quoted and referenced seven times by the Buffalo supermarket shooter in May last year. More shockingly, one of his videos was also found on the site of a man charged with killing five people at a Colorado gay club in November.
Adding to his crimes, Harris attempted to manufacture a gun using a 3D printer — a crude but chilling plan.
Counter-Terror Police Snapped Him Up Days after Buffalo Massacre
Officers from Counter-Terrorism Policing East Midlands arrested Harris at his Glossop home just two days after the Buffalo attack, charging him with five counts of encouraging terrorism and possession of terrorist material.
In court, it emerged Harris had not been groomed but was spreading hateful content to radicalise others. Despite intervention efforts, he persisted in provocative online activity and continued to obstruct investigations even after arrest.
Police Warn: Online Hate Breeds Real-Life Violence
“On the face of it, Harris seemed quiet but underneath was a dangerous extremist,” said Detective Inspector Chris Brett.
“His videos weren’t a game—they were designed to recruit and inflame. The link to the Buffalo attack shows the deadly consequences of such hate.”
“Anyone sharing extremist content risks arrest. We have top digital teams tracking people hiding behind fake profiles.”
“Harris has been made to pay for his actions. We hope this sentence warns others tempted down a dark, violent path.”
