Predator Sentenced for Hoarding Sickening Child Abuse Images
Kristian Fernandez, 65, was slammed with a two-year, three-month jail term at Canterbury Crown Court on Wednesday, May 12, 2021. The Ramsgate man pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images of children.
Caught Red-Handed During Police Visit
Fernandez, of Clements Road, Ramsgate, was under strict supervision following a Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO) from a 2009 conviction for similar crimes. On June 6, 2019, Kent Police’s Offender Management Unit visited his home as part of routine checks.
While inspecting a phone at Fernandez’s address, officers spotted an indecent image of a child. They seized the device straight away.
Shocking Discovery of More Explicit Content
Further analysis revealed a stash of disturbing videos and images. Of these, 16 were classified as category A—the most graphic and serious type of content.
Fernandez was arrested and charged with offences involving over 20 illegal images and videos spanning categories A, B, and C.
Police Show No Mercy for Child Abusers
“The children abused in these images are real victims of real crimes,” said Jean Farbrace, Kent Police’s lead investigator on the case. “Anyone accessing such images is complicit in their abuse.”
“Despite being under a court order, Fernandez continued to access these vile images. His sentence demonstrates that those caught face prison time.”
