Paedophile Jailed for Eight Years After Victim’s Video Testimony

Graham Andrews, 48, from Kirkburton, was locked up on Friday, April 1, after admitting to causing or inciting a girl under 13 to engage in sexual activity. He initially denied the charges but changed his plea after the court watched a video interview given by the brave victim.

Horrific Abuse Dates Back to 2019

The shocking sexual offence occurred in February 2019. Alongside his prison sentence, Andrews was slapped with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order to keep the public safe.

The court also revealed Andrews’ dark past. In 2008, he exposed himself indecently to a nine-year-old in Herefordshire and was placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register for five years.

Victim’s Bravery Praised by Police

“Despite being a toddler herself, the victim was able to clearly describe in her video interview what Andrews had done,” said Detective Constable Suzanne Clark from the Kirklees District Safeguarding Unit.

“Her evidence was crucial in securing this prosecution and forcing Andrews to change his plea. It shows that even very young victims can have their voices heard.

“I commend her bravery and hope she and her family can move forward knowing this monster is behind bars. We take these crimes extremely seriously and will continue working with partners to support all victims.”
