West Midlands Gunman Behind Bars for Almost a Decade
Young gun runner Khalid Khan, 21, was busted in a daring raid by the National Crime Agency’s Armed Operations Unit at his Rubery flat on 13 November 2021.
Stash Tossed Out of Window During Raid
As officers stormed the flat, Khan tried to ditch evidence – hurling a jacket, drugs, and a mobile phone onto the street below. But cops found a loaded Retay blank-firing handgun in the jacket pocket, which had been illegally converted to fire live rounds. Plus, a packet of crack cocaine was seized on the spot.
Lengthy Prison Sentence Delivered
Khan, from Bacchus Road, Winson Green, later admitted to firearms and drug supply charges at Birmingham Crown Court. On Monday 28 February, he was slammed with a hefty 9 years and 9 months behind bars.
NCA Commander Issues Stark Warning
“Khalid Khan was caught red-handed with a deadly weapon and showed no concern that a young child lived in the same home,” said NCA Birmingham Branch Commander Mick Pope.
“We’re fiercely committed to smashing organised crime groups flooding the West Midlands streets with guns. But we need the public’s help. If you know anything about illegal firearms, please contact Crimestoppers or your local police.”
