Trainee Solicitor and Special Constable Busted with 2,263 Child Abuse Images
Jack Mallinson, 26, a trainee solicitor and special police constable with West Yorkshire Police, has been caught sending vile encrypted messages detailing horrific fictional abuse of children.
Disturbing Messages and Shocking Image Haul
In October 2020, Mallinson used instant messaging app Wickr to describe graphic scenarios of abusing two young children and even fantasised about harming a baby. His sick posts were discovered by National Crime Agency (NCA) investigators.
Officers arrested Mallinson on 7 January last year, seizing several electronic devices. They found a horrific stash of 2,263 indecent images of children on his phone, ranging from categories A to C, with category A being the most severe. Disturbingly, 14 extreme pornographic bestiality images were uncovered on his gaming laptop.
Admits Viewing But Denies Physical Abuse
When questioned, Mallinson admitted writing the posts but claimed they were purely fantasy meant to shock. He denied any contact abuse.
He confessed to viewing indecent images sent to him via Tumblr and Mega between March and November 2020 but claimed he stopped after securing his trainee solicitor role. He also admitted watching extreme pornography.
Guilty Plea and Harsh Sentencing
Mallinson was charged with multiple counts including making and possessing indecent images of children, possessing extreme pornographic bestiality images, and publishing obscene posts.
He pleaded guilty to all charges at Leeds Magistrates’ Court on 2 March and was sentenced at Leeds Crown Court on 5 May.
NCA operations manager Matthew Brooks slammed Mallinson: “Jack Mallinson has undoubtedly abused the huge responsibility entrusted in him as a solicitor, and by West Yorkshire Police. Although he did not commit physical abuse, the very fact he posted such disgusting messages to complete strangers online indicates he poses a sexual threat to children.
“He also had a significant collection of child abuse material in his possession. Behind every one of these images and videos is a young victim, who is powerless and exploited.
“The NCA will continue to do everything it can to bring offenders like Mallinson to justice and protect those affected by online child sexual abuse.”
