Man Held Over Five Racially Aggravated Attacks in East London
Police have swooped on a 28-year-old man suspected of carrying out a spate of racially charged assaults across east London.
Spate of Attacks Sparks Investigation
Detectives from the Central East Command Unit launched a major inquiry after multiple incidents on Wednesday, 18 August.
- 6:41pm: A 30-year-old man was hit on the head with a bottle on Cazenove Road, N16, but miraculously escaped injury.
- 7:10pm: A 14-year-old boy was assaulted out of the blue while walking on Holmdale Terrace, N15. He was left unharmed.
- 8:30pm: A 64-year-old man was punched in the face near Stamford Hill and Colberg Road. He suffered facial injuries and a broken foot after falling to the ground.
The elderly victim was hospitalised but has since been discharged.
Two More Victims Yet to Come Forward
Police say two additional victims involved in these racially aggravated attacks have yet to contact authorities. Officers are actively trying to reach them.
The 28-year-old suspect was arrested on Thursday, 2 September, and remains in custody at an east London police station as enquiries continue.
