Man Arrested After Woman Suffers Chemical Attack in Brasslands Drive

Emergency crews rushed to Brasslands Drive at 10.53am after reports of a woman being exposed to a noxious substance. A man was later arrested in connection with the incident.

Victims Treated and Released

The woman was taken to hospital but discharged the same day, thankfully with no lasting harm. Another woman at the scene was also treated for exposure effects and sent home later that day.

Suspect Faces Multiple Charges

Shaine Tester, 33, from Aldwick Road, Bognor, appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 3 January. He faces a string of charges including:

  • Assault
  • Possession of a weapon for discharging noxious liquid or gas
  • Two counts of assaulting police officers
  • Possession of a class B drug
  • Possession of an offensive weapon in public
  • Four counts of possession of a knife in public

Tester was remanded in custody and will face court again at a later date.

Mystery Substance Under Investigation

Authorities have yet to confirm the exact nature of the chemical used. However, initial reports suggest the material did not contain acid.
