Bomb Hoax Shuts Down Sweyn Road

Kent Police were scrambled to Sweyn Road at 9am on Wednesday, July 19, after a man threatened to damage a property, sparking fear of a bomb threat.

Emergency Services Spring Into Action

Officers, backed up by Kent Fire and Rescue, quickly cordoned off the scene. As a precaution, 16 nearby households were evacuated, causing chaos for local residents.

Fortunately, the cordon was later lifted, and everyone was allowed to return home safely.

Man Arrested and Charged Over Bomb Hoax

Margate CID launched a swift investigation, leading to the arrest of 61-year-old Tony Gannon from Sweyn Road. He now faces charges for communicating a bomb hoax.

Gannon is set to appear before Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Friday, July 21.
