Hastings Engineer Jailed in Absentia for Sick Child Sex Crimes
Jason Reddy, 56, an engineer from Carlisle Parade, Hastings, has been sentenced to four years behind bars for horrific child sex offences. The judge handed down the sentence on Wednesday (March 2) following his conviction on January 31.
Shocking Abuse at Hastings Address
Police launched an investigation after a report that a nine-year-old girl was sexually assaulted in June 2018 at a home on Hillside Road, Hastings. During searches of Reddy’s electronic devices, officers uncovered disturbing videos showing a child under 18 showering at the same address.
Convicted Despite Going on the Run
Reddy was charged with sexual assault of a child under 13 and two counts of voyeurism. He was released on bail but fled before his trial. The court convicted him in his absence, sentencing him to three years for sexual assault and an additional 12 months for voyeurism, to run consecutively.
Police Hunting Absconder
Reddy remains on the run. Police urge anyone with information about his whereabouts to call 101 or report online. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously at 0800 555 111.
Detective Sergeant Kelly Yates said: “This case shows we will relentlessly pursue sexual offenders, even if they flee. When Jason Reddy is found, he will serve his sentence. I want to commend the victim for her bravery, which helped secure this conviction and reveal further crimes.”
